Juliusz Słowacki’s Genesis Eschatology in view of Christian Eschatology

Abstract

The author analyses Juliusz Słowacki’s genesic theological system, in particular the eschatological themes in the poet’s last play, Samuel Zborowski. The researcher focuses on the motif of transfiguration and resurrection as the key themes of the poet’s faith. The author of the article refers to Christian dogmatics and gnosis, which had a key influence on the development of Juliusz Słowacki’s ideas. The article places particular emphasis on the demiurgic themes of the poet’s work, which reveals Słowacki’s specific vision of the role of the ego on the path to salvation. The purpose of the paper is to address the similarities and differences between the poet’s and Christian eschatology.
