Abstract

This study is an attempt to define the place and role of theology in the world of science over the twenty centuries of interrelationship between faith and scientific disciplines, especially those based on empiricism. In order to make the necessary analyses and comparisons, it was first necessary to answer the question of how theology defined itself and what place it had among academic disciplines. This was a dynamic process. Its dynamics were determined above all by the development of the sciences and their perception of theology as a science. This argumentation leads to conclusions indicating the necessity of interdisciplinary research that takes into account the role of theology as a humanising research field in the world of science.
